The Academy annually holds scientific meetings, symposia, public lectures for encouraging other similar activities in order to provide means of exchange of scientific knowledge among scientists and to bring new knowledge to the attention of the whole scientific community. Annually, the midyear meeting is organised during June/July and the Annual meeting in November. The Fellowship of the Academy, teachers and other invitees participate in these meetings. For the past several years now, the Academy has been organizing two meetings, a Mid-year meeting normally in Bangalore and an Annual meeting in different places in the country.
In view of the prevailing pandemic, the 32nd Mid-Year Meeting (MYM) of the Indian Academy of Sciences will be held online. Further, since it is difficult to hold long-duration online meetings, the MYM will be held over several weeks in sessions of shorter duration. The presentations by newly-elected Fellows and Associates will be held on June 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2021. Finally, on July 2nd, three events will be held: (i) a Symposium on the theme: Pollinators and Seed Dispersers: The Natural Gardeners, in celebration of the current International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, (ii) a Panel Discussion on Academic Freedom and Institutional Autonomy, and (iii) a Public Lecture by Prof. Abhijeet Vinayak Banerjee, Nobel Laureate.
